Adelaide Aces Meeting held Tuesday, 27th September 2005
The meeting opened at 7.34 p.m.
Present: Trevor Prior, Mal Sporne, Jane Young, Jane George, Shane Marsland, Mark O’Connor, Jeff Tapfield, Michael Green and Andrew Short (guest).
Apologies: Heather Finlay, Chris Finlay
Minutes of previous meeting presented and the adjusted minutes [re item 11]to be re-presented at the next meeting.
Business arising from the Minutes.
The Southern District Baseball Club will be hosting the '35+ social Gold' program for the Australian Masters Games.
Three games a day will be played. Mal has asked for the Aces to assist in the end of the day cleaning up procedures namely, bringing in the home run fence signs, taking in the bins and general clean up. Likewise, in the morning, put out bins and signs. On the evening of Monday 10th October, there will be a dinner in the clubrooms and Aces are asked to support this function. The medal presentation will be held at the grounds with the mayor Ray Gilbert conducting the honours. The local paper will be present.
For those who attended the Golf Day, they had an enjoyable day. Many thanks to Jane George who organized the successful and fun-filled day. Well done.
Batting Cage: The proposal as yet has not been presented to the SD baseball club for a portable batting cage.
Financial Report: A full report was presented by Jane George and accepted as correct.
Wine Report: The wine which has been produced from Steve and Jane’s vineyard will need to be housed for 6 months. A cheese and wine tasting night will be organized to promote the wines for sales and orders.
Diary Dates for 2006: Alice Springs 21st -28th October, Gold Coast 4th – 12th November, Pt. Pirie 4th - 6th April, Broken Hill June long weekend Mt Gambier in May. All these suggested as potential tournaments, to be considered at the AGM.
Peter Martin who was sent a card and a basket from the Aces has sent a thank you card to us for our good wishes.
Nothing at this point has come of the OH & S issue raised about players using their own batting helmets.
An invitation to have breakfast with Michael Klim was extended via Andrew Short, to the Aces. No interest was shown.
2005 Australian Masters Games
The Aces will be presenting the 1st Women’s Baseball Team to be represented in the Masters Games.
Players will be using the Blue Tops for these Games. The players will be given the opportunity to purchase there own tops or to rent from our uniform bank.
General Business:
The stats for the past year’s games need to be collated ready for the AGM.
We need an equipment list for our audit update.
Ray Hahn has pavers for our use if we want them.
World Masters get together on Sunday 16th of October from 5.30 pm onwards.
All committee members are to consider there positions for 2006 at the AGM.
Fundraising for 2007 with Bushells Tea. Possible consideration for the Aussie Aces -Phoenix 2007 Fund.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 9.02 pm. The next meeting will be held at the home of Jane Young on Tuesday 25th October 2005 at 7.30 p.m.
