For those of us that have played in the MSBL World Series Steve Sigler has passed on the sad news of Steve Rosenburg's passing.
Steve was the fellow in the office/shop at Tempe Stadium that answered all our our problems.
On Monday June 19th, 2006, everyone in the MSBL family lost one of the finest gentlemen I have ever known, Steve Rosenburg.
The shock of his passing is still enveloping us all. This passing is a monumental loss for anyone who had the pleasure of getting to know Steve personally.
Steve was an associate, National Board Member, Assistant Tournament Director of our Las Vegas tournaments, Holiday Classic, Fall Classic and World Series and only one of three Lifetime Achievement Award recipients. Despite these most significant titles and recognitions, most importantly is the loss of a very close friend.
Steve was like a family member. He was with me and my family at my son’s and daughter’s weddings and shared every special event with us. Is there anyone you know who didn’t like Steve? The difference is, I loved him like a friend and told him this in our last several conversations. My only peace with this is that I was able to express my feelings.
Our 18 year history started with Steve taking over the Atlanta league after several conversations on what we both thought was best for Atlanta at that time and it served as one of the best decisions I personally have ever made.
One of the unique traits Steve had was that you really could not describe him in only a few words – “What a nice guy”, “So friendly”, etc. You needed much more.
Steve was a friend to people who he would meet the first time. He could extend a feeling of comfort and truthfulness, like very few could.
His handshake, his smile, his hugs, his personality, his easy going manner, his ability to decipher an issue and resolve it, his dependability, his leadership, his values, his faith and devotion, his generosity – all will be legacies for decades to come. But his most noteworthy trait, to me, was the genuine friendship and affection for me and my family.
Upon informing our national leaders of Steve’s passing, the universal theme from everyone was shock, dismay, and a feeling of loss. Even those who only casually knew him were touched by his passing.
As I write this, I am feeling a great loss all over again for my friend, my partner, my counselor and more.
In closing, Steve Rosenburg, I can confidently say, will always be remembered as “Rosie”. It is such a positive and easy word to say. Let Steve be enshrined in all our hearts and memories as someone who truly touched all of us and that we are blessed to have known this man. Steve Rosenburg will live forever with MSBL/MABL and its extended family.
Respectfully,
Steve Sigler
President MSBL National
